Extra Blog Post for January: Out of This World

Designers always have to come up with new designs. Sometimes finding inspiration can be very hard. They can get inspired by a muse or a random idea. As I was browsing the web looking at new collections recently released I saw this one and fell in love.

This is a part of the Valentino Pre Fall Collection.
It reminds me of a magical wizard who has all the secrets of the universe. But then decided to put them on clothes because the secrets where to much.

The details that are in each piece fascinates me. Also if you notice, that in the long dresses the fabric goes from sheer at the top to more denser fabric at the bottom. It creates a cooler effect than what one normally would get with only one layer of fabric.

The designs of the dresses over all are quite simple,  they either are draped away from the body at the natural waistline or a bit above. This line just shows that any design,even one as simple as this one  can be made into something totally new with different fabrics and patterns.

Lesson 2: Refelction

1. I really liked my activity I felt that it really showed how an artist's style is very important no matter what kind of medium they choose to represent themselves on.

b.I would give myself this grade since I didn't meet the 20 minute minimum requirement in presenting. I achieved everything else but this.
3.I feel that talking about different artists and about their style really helped my case in making it evident that no matter what medium, style is very important.
4.I would mention other artists and go into more detail because I am the type of person that likes things straight to the point and sometimes has trouble really explaining things to others.
5. I think my answer #2 is going to be something in relation to mediums or presentations of mediums.

Blog 12: Mentorship 10 Hours

1. I am doing my mentorship with two different people

• Graciela Nardi 
• Marisol Bradford 

2. Graciela is calling from Latino Art Museum. Marisol will be calling as soon as she gets better from the flu she caught.
3.For Graciela I have done 90 hours. For Marisol I have done 7 hours since our busy schedules don't match up most of the time.
4. With Graciela I have run around doing errands, went to local events, helped set up for exhibitions, cleaned up for exhibitions, painted the walls to set up for exhibitions, helped out with guests and artists. With Marisol we have had  chats where she showed me her portfolio, her experience in the industry, advise for me and references where I can get more information.

Blog 11: Holiday Project Update

1. I visited the Louis Vuitton  Purse repair Department in Ontario. I talked to the employees on their work and how they got to where they are now. Most of them had been there for a while and had worked with Louis Vuitton for more than 10 years. This department had to deal with purses, trunks, briefcases , backpacks and wallets that needed repair or replacements. Certain people had to do inventory and meanwhile most were on the floor doing the repairs. Everyone had their own list of  things they had to do, and they had a certain amount of time to fix an item.

2.As I walked by I talked to the employees and asked what they learned so far during their time working for Louis Vuitton. All of them said that they learned something new everyday, since no two purses they get are ever the same. But the one thing they definitely agree and stand by , that I completely agree on and it would be not turn in something unless you have tried your absolute best and have done everything possible  to do something you are proud of. This would either include sewing a purse back up correctly and not making any unnecessary holes or crating an artwork. This is important because in their case they can get the item  back and they would have to fix any errors they have done making their job harder than it already is. In my case, anything I do can be seen easily whether or not I did it in a rush or with passion.

3.I would want to interview Karl Lagerfled or Anna Wintour because of their dedication to their careers and the experience they have in the industry. I feel that they have gone through many different things that can help out a person like me who is new to the industry learn from what they have accomplished. I also really admire how they  are where they are now because they are really passionate of what they do.
